<p>Matthews and Tkachuk were teammates on Team USA at the 4 Nations Face-Off earlier this year, where their friendship continued to grow. It&#8217;s been a roller-coaster of a series for Matthews, who delivered his first goal of the series in <a href="https://theleafsnation.com/news/6-takeaways-toronto-maple-leafs-florida-panthers-game-6-matthews-forces-game-7-most-important-goal-career">Game 6</a>, a pivotal moment as the Leafs were on the brink of elimination.</p>

It was only fitting that the Maple Leafs&#8217; headlining stars combined for a crucial goal in Game 6, where Marner intercepted an errant pass, got the puck over to Matthews, who beat Sergei Bobrovsky cleanly along the ice.</p>
<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a great opportunity for everybody. It&#8217;s going to be a great showdown between two amazing teams. This is one of the biggest games in probably the last however many years here in Toronto. We&#8217;ve been through these before, we know this opportunity is just as big for us.
